Grade 12 Introductions to Calculus 45S - Slot 1A Semester 1

Thursday September 10:  Welcome to Introduction to Calculus.  Today we went over the course outline, but didn't get very far into anything mathematical just yet.  We'll start our first proper lessons tomorrow and Monday.  Until then, I have handed out the Grade 11 Skills Review.  You can get started on this tonight (here is the answer key), but if you get stuck on a few things here and there, don't panic! - I don't expect you to all be able to do every single question on it just yet (and a couple of the skills in here aren't in the grade 11 curriculum anymore).  I'll be giving you some examples and hints as we get to know each other over the next few days.  If you are stuck, feel free to google things like "factor theorem" or  "factoring sum of cubes" and see if you can get ahead of me.  On the other hand, it is probably fair to say, that if you sit down and find that you can't do ANY of this review on your own, you have signed up for the wrong course, and you aren't ready for Calculus right now.

Grade 11 Honours Pre-Calculus 30SH - slot 2 Semester 1

Thursday September 10:  Welcome to Honours Pre-Calculus!  Here is the course outline and an overview of the curriculum.  Here is a Grade 10 Skill Review, just to refresh some skills while I  hand out your first notes package, the  Sequences and Series booklet, as well as your textbook.   The questions on the Grade 10 Skill Review should be things you already know how to do, but don't panic if you need a little bit of refresher on those skills.  Definitely panic and run, don't walk, to your counselor to switch to Applied or Essential Math if you can't do any of it!  If you want to work on it some more tonight, great - but if you want to finish it up over the weekend, we'll go over it starting on Monday.

Grade 9 Math - 10F and 10T - Slot 5 Semester 1

Thursday September 10:  Welcome to Grade 9 Math!  Nothing too strenuous on the first day!  We went over some of the course outline.   I  handed out these BEDMAS puzzles for you to try while I handed out and assigned textbooks and we played with the numbers on the textbooks a little.    See you tomorrow!
