HERE IS THE EXAM REVIEW (and here is its answer key)
FINAL EXAM TUESDAY JUNE 17th. BE AT ROOM 203 NO LATER THAN 8:45 AM. WE START WRITING AT 9. BRING YOUR TEXTBOOKS!!
Thursday June 12: Mr Chaszewski will be in for me today because I will be away at Provincial Exam Marker Training. Yes, it's as dumb as it sounds. I would much rather be in class with you all, as I have had a great deal of fun being your grade 9 Math Teacher and it is a drag to be missing our last class together.
This is your last in-class chance to work on the orginal EXAM REVIEW (here is its answer key) that got handed out before May long weekend, or if you are done that, last week I handed out the second exam review package (and here is the answer key for that one).
If anyone is done all of that review, you can always go to the textbook and try some of the "Cumulative Review" on pages 464-467 (omit questions #13-17 - we didn't cover that chapter). Good luck on the final exam! Don't forget to bring your textbook to the exam on Tuesday Morning.
Wednesday June 11: we lost some of this class to locker clean out and timetable distribution, but for the first part of the period we went through some rational numbers, power laws, square roots, and polynomial review.
Tuesday June 10: I handed back the Probability test and then we went through some Equation Solving, Inequalities, Surface Area, and Rational Calculations review.
Monday June 9: We spent a few minutes going over textbook page 435 #3,7,10, and then we did the Probability Test. If you finished with time to spare, work on either the orginial (handed out in May) EXAM REVIEW (here is its answer key) or the second exam review package that I handed out on Friday (here is the answer key). Also, I need your CUSR data for the report card. If you missed today's class, watch this video and send me your CUSR choices on Edsby. If I don't hear from you by the end of the week, I will just use the same ones from the last report card (unless, of course, I feel like they need changing).
Friday June 6: We went over textbook page 427 #4, 7, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17, then had some time to work on page 435 #3, 7, 10. I handed out a second exam review package today, in case anyone has used up the first one (linked at the top of the blog above).
Thursday June 5: Trans Probability test today. If you have time after you finish, you can work on finishing up textbook page 427 #4, 7, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17. If you aren't finished that, you have to finish it for homework tonight. If you are finished that, our last probability assignment is textbook page 435 #3,7,10
Wednesday Jun 4: as a practice for tomorrow's Probability Trans Test, we did this mental math activity. Then we had some time to work on textbook page 427 #4, 7, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17. We finished the class with a quick lesson on Census vs Sample and the types of population samples. If you didn't finish the textbook assignment, you may have some time tomorrow after you finish the test.
Tuesday June 3: after some more time to work, we went over the Probability examples page together. Then we looked at the most famous mathematical disagreement of the 20th century - the Monty Hall Problem. For some background, we watched a few minutes of an episode of Let's Make a Deal. This leads us to the problem: here is a simulation of the problem which we did together to see how it goes. Here is a video about the lady who solved this problem (and the controversy around her solution). Then we went back to the textbook. Your next assginment is textbook page 427 #4, 7, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17

Monday Jan 20: we went through some examples together from outcomes: N3a (Comparing and Ordering Rational Numbers) and N3b (Operations on Rational Numbers) using questions from the textbook. At home, you shouldo work on the Mid-Year Review booklet. I handed out your progress reports so that you could see which outcomes would be most advatageous for you to re-try next week. Also, I need your CUSR data for the report card. If you missed today's class, watch this video and send me your CUSR choices on Edsby. If I don't hear from you by the end of next week, I will just use the same ones from the last report card (unless, of course, I feel like they need changing).
POLYNOMIALS TEST FRIDAY Jan 17th - if you finish with time to spare, work on the Mid-Year Review booklet.
Thursday Jan 16: we went over the Distributive Property with Mutiple Variables worksheet . If you missed today's class here is the key so you can correct it yourself. Then we had the rest of the class to work on the review at the end of the Polynomials Notes Booklet (page 28 #8 the long grey rectangle should be 3x units long, on page 30 #3 the answer key has a mistake: it should be 8x^2 not 3x^2 and on page 31 #5d should be 40x not 49x). If you finish all that and you are looking for more review, there is a nice little practice test on textbook Page 262 (reminder to ignore the questions that ask you to use algebra tiles).
Wednesday Jan 15: we corrected the three worksheets I handed out on Monday: Problem Solving with Polynomials sheet, Working Backwards, and Fill In the Blanks. Then I handed out a Distributive Property with Mutiple Variables worksheet to work on. We will correct it tomorrow.
